When you write a post that has over 500 words… the first thing you should do is to consider if you could make it shorter. Cut at least one hundred words if you can.
Make sure if you really need that introductory paragraph. If you really need to introduce one paragraph with another or if isn’t the whole text just an introduction to a conclusion, where in fact you doubt your own idea. If I’m talking about your text, that probably means you force yourself to write, so… stop it.
Consider if you really need to explain that or wander to another idea. You should always go straight to the point unless you have a concept. Although we don’t talk about exceptions, but general issue.
Which is that you should be able to put as much (or as much as you want too) in as few words as possible. It is very valuable skill, especially in social media and / or if you are a blogger. Nobody wants to read hundreds of words about nothing. You probably even don’t want to write them.
It is not easy to write short, especially when you write on topic on which you have pretty much to say, but if you have that’s okay. Writing too long often comes together with having no idea how to express something. Then you keep going around the point, which you don’t reach even in the conclusion.
I also have this problem, which you may have spotted if you read my texts. That’s why I created Micro Pancakes, where I train myself to write as short as possible, and there’s just trash I update (almost) daily.
The conclusion is obvious: Practice, practice, practice. And keep it short, stupid.
